Upcoming Charity Ride - February 2nd

Three Okanogan County snowmobile clubs - MVSA, the Butte Busters from Conconully, and the Tri-River club from Brewster/Pateros are joining together again for the 2013 Charity Ride on Saturday, February 2nd. This year the donations will stay local in Okanogan County with the three clubs together deciding on the recipient(s).

The Butte Busters will depart from Peacock Meadows Sno-Park at 9:00 a.m. and ride to the North Summit Sno-Park to meet up with folks from the west side of Loup Loup. Donations will be collected and the group will then depart at 10:00 a.m. for a no-host lunch in Conconully. Riders are free to depart any time after lunch for the return back to either Sno-Park.

For more information, contact Betty Wagoner at 509-997-1312.

There is also a club ride scheduled for this day out of 8-Mile to Doe Mountain so you have your choice of rides.

Club Ride - January 19th to Sweetgrass

Approximately forty riders braved the near zero temps to come play in the snow this past Saturday. Destination - Sweetgrass North. Joining us on the ride was Steven Foreman from the Methow Grist. (Check out the video here.)

The trail had been groomed the day before and was in terrific shape. On the way up the trail, the group from Goat Creek met up with several members that started out from Cub Creek.

Lunch was served at Sweetgrass and the temps were definitely much warmer up top!

Wanna Go to Lunch?

On January 10th, a small group of club members took a ride out of Boulder Creek Sno-park to Conconully for lunch and to get out of the fog. The group included Jerry & Chris H, Rich and Dolly S, Ed and Gail S, and Chuck U.

How was the ride? "It was beautiful! The best I have seen the road," said Dolly. The pictures below certainly support that statement.

Let's hope the weather will be this nice for the upcoming charity ride to Conconully next month. Watch for a post with information for the ride.

Thanks to Dolly for sharing the ride info and pictures.

Club Ride - Jan 13th to Whiteface

January 13th ride report courtesy of Julie J:

Last Sunday we only had eight of us out of Goat Creek to Whiteface! Very cold plus the Seahawks were playing in the playoffs (they lost) so glad we didn't blow a great snowmobile day! We had fun playing on the ridges and hollows but was much too windy up on McLeod to go to the top! It was much warmer up high and it was a beautiful day! Julie

January 5th Ride to Beaver Meadows

Ride Report From Rich S. -

The ride in the morning to Beaver Meadows was really bad with ice fog on everyone's goggles so they could not see. The weenie wagon had only one more tight turn and hill then it would have been down hill into Beaver Meadows. But it turned back the same as last year and built the fire in the same nice spot. Most riders continued into Beaver Meadows build the trail as they went. The meadows were untouched and we proceeded to tear it up. I think we only lost one person in the creek this year. The weather improved and turned to a nice gentle snow. Most of the riders ate and headed back to the parking lot. About 7 riders did continue to play in the area and arrived at the parking lot around 3:30.

(Thanks for the report, Rich!)

Next ride is Sunday, January 13th out of the Goat Creek Sno-park to Whiteface where lunch will be served around noon. Hopefully the weather will be better for the start of the ride.

Best Snow in Years!

Best snow in years for snowmobilers...at least according to an article published January 9th in the Methow Valley News.

Your Help is Needed

We'd like to post quick recaps of how the weekend rides go and need volunteers to submit a ride recap consisting of a short paragraph or two. Include things like how many riders were there, trail and weather conditions...anything you think our club members would be interested in. Pictures, while nice to have, are not required! You will be given credit for any submission although last names will not be published (for privacy purposes) unless you say so.

Send your ride recap to methowvalleysnowmobile at gmail dot com within a couple of days of the ride so others who couldn't make it will know what they missed!

Thanks!!

Community Christmas Dinner

MVSA members along with community volunteers came out Christmas Day to prepare and serve the annual Christmas dinner at the Senior Center in Twisp. Almost 120 people enjoyed roast turkey and baked ham along with all the fixings, salads and pies. The atmosphere was festive, especially when Saint Nick and his helper showed up.

Thanks to all those who helped with food and/or monetary donations to make this year's dinner a success!
